MEASURING FOR OPERABLE SHUTTERS
Measure for the shutter width at the top, middle, and bottom of the window from the left side to the right side. If the widths at each of these points are not the same, use the SMALLEST measurement of the three.
This measurement is then divided by 2 to give you your operable shutter width. For example, if your window width measurement is 31″ wide at its narrowest point, you should order 15 1/2″ wide shutters (31 ÷ 2 = 15.5).
MEASURING FOR DECORATIVE SHUTTERS
If you will never open or close your shutters, you measurements do not need to be as precise. We recommend going with the above instructions, as you want them to appear operable, even if they aren’t. But with the decorative, you can order whatever width you like.
